Hello CWC members!

Thanks to all who attended our Kick-off Social event at Limani on September 18th!  It was a fantastic event!   I enjoyed connecting with so many of you at the event and I was impressed with the energy in the room!  A HUGE thanks to the planning committee that put on such an exceptional affair!  Also, thanks to the club chairs and philanthropy chairs that did an amazing job staffing the tables and sharing information about our clubs/philanthropies.  I’m hoping you will all try a new club or a new philanthropy based on what you learned.

One of the things I spoke about at the Limani luncheon was our May Member Survey results and what we are doing about those results.  Your feedback is critically important and I’m happy to say the CWC Board has acted on many of your great ideas!

Attached below is a presentation of the key results from the survey and the actions we are taking based on your feedback.

I also spoke about how much we need folks to step up into leadership roles at CWC.   Two current leadership opportunities are outlined below:

  1. As you heard from me recently, the VP of Social role is open and in need of someone to step into it as soon as possible! The VP of Social is an incredibly important leadership responsibility involved in planning all our large social events (e.g. luncheons, evening fundraiser).   Please consider volunteering for this role and please reach out to me directly if you may be interested.

  2. CWC has added a new VP of Marketing role! This individual will be responsible for marketing of CWC.  There will be a focus on social media marketing, however other forms of marketing will be included in as well.  We are looking for someone with marketing skills (ideally with experience in social media marketing) to join our Board and serve in this capacity!   If you have potential interest in the role, please reach out to me to have a conversation about it.
Our next big social event is just around the corner on October 16th at Olde Mecklenburg Brewery in the Ballantyne Bowl!  This will be a more casual social event and will be “purely social” with no formal program, just CWC friends getting together to mix and mingle!  Please look for the reminder invitation later today; and I hope to see you there!

Oktoberfest Update – the Good, the Surprising and the Hopeful

The debut Oktoberfest at Olde Mecklenburg Brewery is just around the corner: October 16th from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm

Good News!
Husbands and male guests also welcome to attend! and no restrictions on number of guests.

 Only 36 Attendees?

We are excited for this event and here is a little reminder of its evolution.  This luncheon is new to the CWC calendar of activities, and we planned this gathering based on CWC member feedback from our May survey; more luncheons were clearly on our members’ minds!

Subsequently, CWC issued a special survey in August, where again a large number of you indicated likely attendance at an Oktoberfest event on October16th.   With this feedback firmly in mind, CWC planned the luncheon and most impactfully, made a financial commitment to OMB.  Surprisingly, as of this publication, we are halfway through our registration period and we are seeing a much lower than expected level of registrations.

Again, we have modified course, based on recent member feedback, and have now opened the guest list to husbands and/or any other men you may want to invite as guests!  In addition, there is no limit restriction as to the number of guests (female or male) you may invite!

 WITH HOPE

So, we are reaching out to seek your support of this event and minimize any financial loss to our club!  Please consider registering by our October 8th deadline and join us at this very fun event where we’ll have a delicious barbeque buffet and enjoy a “purely social” event with our CWC friends.  And don’t forget to bring a guest or two along.

For your convenience, below is a direct link to the luncheon registration.

We are Hopeful to see you at Oktoberfest!

Kickoff Luncheon EXTRAVAGANZA !!

ClubsClubsClubsClubsClubsClubsClubsClubsClubsClubs !!!
We’re off to an E*X*C*I*T*I*N*G season that started with the expanded monthly Simply Social on September 5, 2024, the Kickoff Luncheon on September 18th, and a Travel and Culture Club guided tour of the Sullenberger Aviation Museum.

Speaking of the Sullenberger Aviation Museum . . .please note the NEW DATE
Due to the severe weather event last week (thanks a bunch, Hurricane Helene) this event was rescheduled to Thursday October 17th.  On a positive note, this allows
more time for those that still interested to register in the event.

WOW, the Travel and Culture Club is making up for lost time with another event on November 1st:  a planned visit to Greensboro, South Carolina!  The outing will include touring, dinning, shopping, and of course, fun, Fun, FUN!  Details and registration is on the CWC calendar for your convenience.

In fact, the CWC calendar is bursting with highlighted colors of club events and activities. Browse the CWC calendar with your own calendar in hand and set your calendar for the 2024-2025 season.
KINDLY REMEMBER, if you register YOURSELF for an event and are unable to make it, please let the chair know by cancelling it online. Others may be on the waitlist just hoping for a spot!

We hope you enjoyed the September 18th Kickoff Luncheon experience; all planned with members and guests in mind. We hope by now that you’ve looked inside your CWC Luncheon red gift bag and experienced the WOW factor we tried to create.  The CWC club-related items were inspired and created by club chairs & co-chairs as a way to re-introduce members to “How Tos”, events, and activities.
The “HOW TOs, REMINDERs, TIPS & TRICKS” card will take you on a journey of moving around CWC website with ease for example:

1) Sign-in on YOUR cell phone
 2) Update your “Interests”
3) Update/upload your“photo”
4) Registering Yourself for an event
Be assured that we are attuned to your survey comments as noted by President Laurey, during the September 18th Kickoff Luncheon Q&A,  . . . .
"WE HEAR YOU.”
We are continuing to explore new clubs based on interest and will continue to seek your input, when necessary, through focus group sessions and/or surveys.
The key to a successful club and to club event planning is having trained chairs and co-chairs equipped and ready to take on the role and the task. A strategy that is top of mind moving forward.

New Member Coffee Brings Fun and Friendship
On September 13th, we hosted a New Member Coffee. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect some of our newest Carolina Women's Club members! The event welcomed a great mix of fresh faces and long-time members, all eager to get to know one another over coffee, pastries, and plenty of laughter.
The inviting atmosphere made it easy for attendees to strike up conversations and start building friendships right away. In addition to mingling, the event provided new members with insights into upcoming activities, including details about our popular club events provided by Catherine Lewis, and philanthropic opportunities shared by Becky Hart. There was great discussion about how best to get involved. It was also the perfect occasion to highlight our commitment to the three CWC jewels: Social, Philanthropy, and Friendship.

Debbie Peterson brought three prospects to the event, two of whom joined that afternoon! Many thanks to Debbie for sharing our club. If anyone else would like to invite someone who may be interested in membership to an event, please let me know! cwcmembership1@gmail.com

Thank you to everyone who attended and made this event a success! Especially to Laurey Cosentino for opening her beautiful home to us, Sheryl Johnson for planning and coordinating the delicious food and drink and Eula Morant and Terri Fishman for providing much-appreciated day-of support.

Pictured above, from top left, Pamela Greenwood, Cheri Thompson, Laura Bahmanyar, Sandy Londe, Patty Giammarinaro (prospect), Ellen Koch and Beth Daniels. In front of the staircase is Priti Doshi.

“I really enjoyed the new members coffee and getting to learn more about
the
club and meet both old and new members,” explained
new member Beth Daniels. “One of the best things I received was a printed-out sheet about the clubs which also listed the day of the month they meet.”

Don’t Forget Our New Buddy Program!

This is where we match existing members with new members to help them meet new people, learn about CWC and try out new activities and events together.

And if you’d like to be a Buddy, we’d love to have you. We need members to volunteer so that our New Members and the Buddy Program can thrive! cwcmembership1@gmail.com

Thank you for our successful 2024 CWC School Supply Drive for Classroom Central!

To all of our generous ladies at CWC who helped make our 2024 School Supply Drive for Classroom Central a success, THANK YOU!

During our August drive, we collected $678.43 in donated school supply items, $200.00 in checks, and $1,641.40 in on-line donations to Classroom Central through our CWC team page at classroomcentral.org, bringing our grand total to $2,519.83!

When children have their own school supplies, their grades and classroom behavior improve, their self-esteem rises, and they become more excited about learning. Through our drive, CWC has contributed in a significant way to ensure every student has an opportunity to succeed.

Many thanks, Abbie Volpini

P.S.: PLEASE JOIN US ON OUR NEXT CLASSROOM CENTRAL MORNING ON OCTOBER 8TH!  REGISTER ONLINE!
