Hello CWC members!

Thanks to all who attended our Oktoberfest at Olde Mecklenburg Brewery on October 16th!   It was such a fun event and I really enjoyed socializing with many of you in that more casual setting!

Our clubs and philanthropic events are “going strong”.  I personally attended quite a few in the past few weeks and I love seeing the great participation.  It has been great to connect with so many of you and meet our newer members.  I really encourage you to try a club or Philanthropy that you’ve never attended.  You may meet some members you do not know or find that you enjoy a different activity!  If you happen to be one of our working members, I want you to know that we are focused on ensuring there are plenty of evening events for you including Bunco, Girls Night Out, Simply Social, Evening Book Club, a new evening Mahjong, a new evening Euchre and upcoming joint evening events co-sponsored by Culinary and Travel & Culture.

Continuing our tradition of listening to your feedback, we are forming two new clubs (Mexican Train Game and daytime Bunco) based on member feedback.  Mexican Train Game received the most votes for “new club” at our Fall social, and I’m excited to say we are planning the details of this activity with an anticipated start date in early 2025.  More information will be forthcoming as the start date approaches.  In addition, we are starting a daytime Bunco club effective January 2025.  Many of you have expressed difficulty getting into our popular Bunco club, and with two monthly clubs, more members will be able to participate!

Our Holiday Luncheon and Market is coming up on December 4th at Providence Country Club.  The event will benefit Safe Alliance, which serves those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault.  The Holiday Luncheon and Market is always an exciting occasion, incorporating the holiday spirit, fundraising for this wonderful cause, and shopping at some unique vendors!  I hope you all saw the “save the date”; the invitation will be coming soon.  In these busy last months of the year, I hope to see all of you at the luncheon or sooner at one of the many CWC events!

Debut Social Luncheon:
Oktoberfest at the Olde Mecklenburg Brewery!
We hope you enjoyed the October 16th Oktoberfest luncheon at Olde Mecklenburg Brewery in the Ballantyne Bowl!

It was a beautiful fall day, and members had a great time socializing and mingling in a smaller, more casual atmosphere.  And of course, enjoying a beer and a barbecue buffet.  Several husbands joined us for this fun event!

Congratulations to our 50-50 raffle winner, Tammy Campbell, who took home $191!

OUR HOLIDAY LUNCHEON

BENEFITING SAFE ALLIANCE

IS ALMOST HERE!!

It’s almost time for our annual CWC Holiday Luncheon on Wednesday, December 4th.  Please join us for a festive and delicious luncheon at beautiful Providence Country Club. Of course, there will also be shopping!

You’ll discover a few new vendors among your favorites, all with treasures to help you check off names on your gift list. Each vendor will add to the merriment by providing a beautiful basket of goodies worth $100., that you can enter into the raffle to win!  (Register for the raffle online as you purchase luncheon tickets.) Why not share the excitement of our holiday tradition by inviting your friends?

We’ll embrace the spirit of season by supporting Safe Alliance as they serve those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. Our speaker will share her personal story with us, helping to heighten our own awareness of domestic violence needs.  Please bring gift cards in denominations of $10, $20, or $25 to the luncheon.  Gift cards should be from Walmart or Target, as they have much-needed pharmacies.  Bring as many gift cards as you would like in these denominations, so the ladies at Safe Alliance can purchase what they need for themselves and their children.  The monies from the online raffle tickets will also go to support Safe Alliance.

We so appreciate YOU sharing the spirit of the season.

On behalf of Philanthropy, one of the crown jewels of Carolina Women’s Club, we thank you in advance for your holiday generosity!

Clubs, Clubs and (yes) MORE Clubs!

We’re heading into the colorful fall season with lots of exciting travel, inside and outside club events and activities.

Remember to browse the CWC calendar with your own calendar in hand and set your personal calendar for the fall season.

Recently, you asked and we responded. Evening Mah Jongg kicked off on Wednesday, October 30 - Minerva Castro Hernandez, Chair.

Evening Euchre will begin Wednesday, November 6 – Jennifer Ziza, Chair. Afternoon Bunco will begin Tuesday, January 7, 2025 – Sandra Wolchok, Chair and Karen Bearss, co-Chair.

The Mexican Train Club is on the docket for an early 2025 start. Stay tuned!

In the May 2024 survey, you also asked for Walking/hiking and Golf.

We are excited to explore these new club ideas.

To make all of this happen, we need chairs and co-chairs to plan and execute these wonderful activities.

Would YOU consider co-chairing? Perhaps there is another way you can help.  Just let me know.

All chairs and co-chairs will be trained on how to create and email invitations via our online system.

How do we maintain healthy and active clubs?

Attendance! Attendance! Attendance while keeping “No Shows” to zero!

If you must cancel, please do so timely through the online system.  You can also email or call the Club Chair who will be so happy to hear from you.

A BIG “THANK YOU” to the CWC members that have offered their lovely homes to host club events and activities for the 2024-2025 season.

Membership is the Lifeblood of CWC!

Enjoy Your CWC Membership

New members tell us they join CWC to make friends, go to events and participate in philanthropic activities. And aren’t those the reasons we ALL belong?

Please take the time this month to try a new activity. There is so much on the calendar this fall. And of course, please take every opportunity to greet our new members and make them feel welcome!

As a reminder, make sure you’ve signed up for all the clubs you’re interested in. Just go into your profile by clicking on the top right of the homepage when you sign in. Then go to Your Website Functions on the bottom right and click on Interests.
Remember, you’ll only get emails about events from clubs you’ve checked off. You certainly don’t have to sign up for everything, but it’s the best way to keep up with what’s going on.

Also, if you don’t have a photo in the membership directory, please upload one. If you need help doing that, just let me know. It really helps everyone get to know each other more easily.

Hope to see you out and about in this beautiful fall weather!

Don’t Forget Our New Buddy Program!

This is where we match existing members with new members to help them meet new people, learn about CWC and try out new activities and events together.

And if you’d like to be a Buddy, we’d love to have you. We need members to volunteer so that our New Members and the Buddy Program can thrive! cwcmembership1@gmail.com
