Hello CWC members!

It is hard to believe that 2024 is almost over and we are in the midst of the busy holiday season!  As we near the end of this year, I want to share my deep gratitude to all of you who serve a role in CWC!  We cannot do it without you, and I want you to know I am so thankful for all you do to make this a fantastic club!  My thanks go out to our Executive Board, our Marketing Chair, our club chairs and co-chairs, our philanthropy chairs and co-chairs, and our many members who serve on committees (social, membership, etc.) that support these leaders.

I am really excited that our new Marketing Chair, Melissa Smith has gotten started and has prepared a thoughtful and exciting plan around a private Facebook page that is now launched!  For those of you on Facebook, please join the group by using the link below!  We’ll spend the first 2 – 3 months with just CWC members in the group.  Melissa will post pictures, videos, stories and other fun content for all of us to chat about online!   After 2 – 3 months of CWC members only in the group, we’ll open it up for you to invite friends to the private group who are interested in seeing what CWC is all about!  These friends will be able to join the online group guests, and we believe many of these additional “online group guests” will choose to become CWC club members.    Please see the additional information in this newsletter in the section titled “Facebook”.

I also wanted to remind you that CWC annual dues are increasing to $70 per year, effective January 1, 2025.  Please see my prior memo for the reasons for this increase.  Thank you all for your support of this necessary change.

I want to close by wishing a peaceful and enjoyable holiday season to all of you!  It is a wonderful time to celebrate with those who mean so much to all of us!   I look forward to seeing you all at our December 4th Holiday Luncheon and Market at Providence Country Club!   This end of season social is always such a special event, and this year will continue that tradition!  We will help Safe Alliance via this fundraising event, and we will make a difference in the lives of women and children in Charlotte impacted by domestic abuse.  Thanks to all of you who will attend to lend your support to such an important cause!

DECEMBER HOLIDAY LUNCHEON
GET YOUR SPARKLE ON!  We are looking forward to a wonderful Holiday Luncheon on Wednesday, December 4th at Providence Country Club.  The doors will open at 10:30 for festive holiday shopping, and the luncheon will begin promptly at 12noon, and end at 2:15pm.  In this season of giving, our luncheon will benefit Safe Alliance Women’s Shelter, “where hope and healing happen.”  Our speaker will be Tameka Kennedy, who will share a little of her personal story with us, and also share ways we can identify signs of domestic abuse.

We invite you to bring gift cards of $10., $20. or $25. to the luncheon from either Walmart or Target for the women and children of Safe Alliance.

THANK YOU!

A message to Chairs and co-Chairs. You are the wind beneath CWC wings. We are very proud of that! Let’s show HOW we do IT in the CWC monthly Newsletter. Spotlight your event by sending at least 4 photo shots from each event.   Send photos to Melissa Waters @ cwcwebtech@gmail.com – copy me please Catherine.lewis4623@gmail.com. Be sure to include club name, event name & date.  Melissa will update the website photo album monthly and I will complement the newsletter content with club photos.

Once again, how do we maintain healthy and active clubs? Attendance! Attendance! Attendance while keeping “No Shows and Late Cancelation” to a minimum.  If you must cancel, please do so timely through the online system. Please be considerate of the plans made with you in mind.  You can also email or call the Club Chair who will be happy-glad to hear from you.

Another BIG “THANK YOU” to the CWC members that have offered their lovely homes to host club events and activities for the 2024-2025 season. We really appreciate YOU!!

Enjoy Your CWC Membership

New members tell us they join CWC to make friends, go to events and participate in philanthropic activities. And aren’t those the reasons we ALL belong?

Please take the time this month to try a new activity. There is so much on the calendar this fall. And of course, please take every opportunity to greet our new members and make them feel welcome!

As a reminder, make sure you’ve signed up for all the clubs you’re interested in. Just go into your profile by clicking on the top right of the homepage when you sign in. Then go to Your Website Functions on the bottom right and click on Interests.
Remember, you’ll only get emails about events from clubs you’ve checked off. You certainly don’t have to sign up for everything, but it’s the best way to keep up with what’s going on.

Also, if you don’t have a photo in the membership directory, please upload one. If you need help doing that, just let me know. It really helps everyone get to know each other more easily.

Hope to see you out and about in this beautiful fall weather!

Volunteer Events & Happenings in Philanthropy
“Members of Philanthropy gathered at the  home of Becky Hart to create items for the children of Safe Alliance (and have a little Holiday fun!) .”

PINK BOW CAMPAIGN

Founder and Executive Director of the Pink Bow Campaign,

our own Robin Saddler, and Cathy Kane,

led the women at a recent Philanthropy meeting in making pink bow wreaths

and cards with words of hope for women facing Breast Cancer.

The wreaths that we made were shared with two local Charlotte hospitals, and women on the oncology floors.

THANK YOU to Robin, Cathy and the wonderful women of Philanthropy!

If you have a nice item to donate for our March 28th Sterling Math & Science Fundraiser, please contact Betty Blackwell, Crystal Egbuna or Becky Hart.  Maybe you have a nice bottle of something left over from the Holidays?  Or that gift (scarf, gloves, serving tray, gift basket) that you just don’t need?   Or perhaps you can ask for a gift card from that favorite restaurant you frequent? If so, we can do something creative with that  item -  and make a difference for local children at Title 1 schools.

PROMISING PAGES
Many thanks to all of our Promising Pages volunteers!
These volunteers recently renovated children’s books for the youngest and neediest members of our community.
Special thanks to coordinators Ceci Robinson and Dorinda Jenkins.  Watch the CWC calendar for sign-ups for our next gathering on January 23rd.

We would love to have YOU join us!

ASSISTANCE LEAGUE

Volunteering at the ASSISTANCE LEAGUE!

CWC had a wonderful time creating Christmas wreaths for the Assistance League of Charlotte.   We had 18 women attend the philanthropy event and we put together 32 gorgeous wreaths!  Lots of laughs and sharing of creative ideas! If you think the average wreath sells for $25 we made the ALC approximately $768.00 that will go directly to meet the needs of families in Mecklenburg County!

Great effort Ladies!!

. . .COMING IN JANUARY 2025 . . .

We will be collecting infant onesies and teething rings in January

for the children of Bright Blessings!

On Thursday, November 21st, Philanthropy CWC women volunteered at the Safe Alliance Women’s Shelter, decorating holiday trees for the women and children who will be spending December in the safety of the Shelter.
