Hello CWC members!

Happy New Year!  I hope you all enjoyed the holidays with your families and friends!  It was wonderful to celebrate with so many of you at our Holiday Luncheon at Providence Country Club!  It was a beautiful setting, it was great to re-connect with everyone, and your support of Safe Alliance was so inspirational!  We raised $11,520 for Safe Alliance which is over twice what we raised last year!

With the kick-off of 2025, we’ll get back into our normal busy schedule of clubs and philanthropy events, with new daytime Bunco club starting in January and new Mexican Train Game club starting in February!  Our first social of the year will be our Member Appreciation Event at Limani on February 12th. Please be sure to mark your calendar for this special event, which will be at no charge to our members!  Save the date will come out in mid-January.

Our growing club needs more members to step into leadership roles. Positions like Club Chairs and Co-Chairs, Philanthropy Leaders, Marketing Chair, and Board Members offer excellent opportunities to contribute. Additionally, there are vital support roles for social events and other activities.  To better understand members' interest in these roles, the Executive Board and I have adopted a more structured approach. Starting in early January, when you renew your membership, you’ll be asked to complete a brief questionnaire about your potential interest in leadership or support roles.  I emphasize “potential,” as this is not a commitment but an opportunity to discuss your possible involvement in the future.  Please take a moment to thoughtfully complete the questionnaire when you receive it - - we encourage everyone to consider serving!

I’m thrilled to see our private Facebook group growing!  We have 97 members currently, which is terrific progress since we just launched in early December.  I’ve enjoyed seeing your photos and comments and interactions in the group!  If you haven’t joined yet, please consider joining us, using the link below.

Looking forward to seeing you all at an upcoming club event!

DECEMBER HOLIDAY LUNCHEON

. . . and SPARKLE they did!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!

Huge thanks to everyone who were a part of our magical Holiday Luncheon.

A RECORD-BREAKING amount of $11,520. was raised for Safe Alliance, and their Women’s Shelter and programs focusing on healing & hope for women and children recovering from domestic abuse.
Your generous hearts made this possible.

And what a day we had!  Starting with a warm welcome offered by the check-in and registration teams, and continuing with magical chocolates and more from our local vendors, helpful support from our ever-faithful volunteers at the Philanthropy table, followed by a delicious luncheon at festively decorated tables only Betty Blackwell and Gunnel Greenhagen could have created, to welcoming words from our President and yes, a heart-breaking look inside the courageous life of one woman’s journey from domestic abuse to a healthy independent life; it was a very special day!.

All topped off by the raffle of eight gorgeous baskets.

With thanks to each and every one of you, and special thanks to Safe Alliance liaison, Kathy Marcello; Welcome Team member Judy Nunnenkamp; Philanthropy Team members Becky Hart and Carol Rubin; Social Team member Julie Ryba; Tech Wizard Melissa Waters; Decorating team members Betty Blackwell and Gunnel Greenhagen; and, of course, all of our greeters & gift card collectors and more individuals than can be named!

THANK YOU ALL!

New Member Coffee Next Week

On January 7th, we are hosting our first New Member Social for 2025. These events are always great fun and new members consistently tell us that is where they make some of their best CWC friends.  In addition to mingling, the event will provide new members with information on upcoming activities, including details about our popular club events provided by Catherine Lewis, and philanthropic opportunities shared by Cathy Kane. We’ll discuss some of the best ways for you to get involved.

So, if you’re a new member, please come join us for coffee, pastries and plenty of laughter. And if you have a friend who has been talking about joining, she is welcome to join us.

Linda Drudick is hosting us in her beautiful home in Weddington. This is one you don’t want to pass up!

Please register online or reach out to cwcmembership1@gmail.com
Annual Membership Renewal

By now, many of you have received your e-mail renewal requests. In fact, nearly ¾ of our membership renews in January.*  Of course, we hope your CWC membership brings you great value, no matter which of the jewels of our mission mean the most to you. Whether it’s friendship, social, philanthropy or all three, there is something for everyone. We have a great year planned and would hate for you to miss any of it.

I am happy to report that as of January 2nd, 149 members got renewal notices and 22% have already renewed.

It’s easy; and it can be done online. When you sign into your CWC account, you will get a renewal prompt. Just follow it through and you’re set for another year.  Since this is a very busy time of year for those of us who work on CWC membership, a quick renewal is most appreciated.

If you have any questions, please reach out to cwcmembership1@gmail.com
Marcia Merrill
VP of Membership

*This is because we used to be on an annual renewal. We have now moved to an anniversary date renewal.

IT’S A JANUARY BRIGHT BLESSINGS DRIVE!
A baby clothes and a stuffed elephant Description automatically generated
CWC is looking for infant long-sleeved onesies and teething rings!
This January 15th – 30th, we are supporting the work of Bright Blessings, a center dedicated to:

“Bringing joy, care and hope to homeless and impoverished children.”

Your gift of new long-sleeved onesies and teething rings will serve as a source of comfort to families of newborns as they transition from home to shelter, or for a child in an impoverished home. To give you an idea of how needed these items are, Bright Blessings distributes over 80 teething-rings each month! In February, the Philanthropy Committee will ribbon these items, attach hearts, and deliver your gifts in time for a Valentine’s Day distribution.

You can order the onesies and teething-rings from Amazon through the following Amazon Link (provided below), to the CWC January 2025 Drive, and your items will be delivered directly to the home of Becky Hart.

Alternatively, you may drop-off these items between January 15th and 30th at the homes of Becky Hart or Cathy Kane.

Sign up early!

Looking forward to seeing you.

SAFE ALLIANCE
THANK YOU to Kathy Marcello, Cathy Kane and the wonderful CWC volunteers pictured above who decorated trees for the holidays at the Safe Alliance Women’s Shelter.  Several children living at the Shelter stopped to stare as these beautiful trees went up!
