CWC PHILANTHROPY MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, February 6th, 2025 from 12:30-1:30pm
A Big Welcome to All!

AN UPDATE ON OUR NEWEST PARTNERSHIP: DRESS FOR SUCCESS/LIAISON - MARDA KORNHABER
Marda shared that this program is to help women get back into the work force wearing appropriate clothing and accessories to do professional networking .  Dress For Success was establish 25 years ago.  The program has helped over 700-800 women.  Volunteers are needed to help with selecting clothes, shoes and handbags. Some of the needs are purses and shoes. The location is off 77 Clanton Road.  
Please feel free to bring nicely worn or new handbags appropriate for business attire to our next meetings. Our first Volunteer event is March 7 ( sale of clothes to  Clients and the Public).  Registration opens today, February 11th. More information to come!  

TODAY’S FOCUS: STERLING MATH & SCIENCE
LIAISON - BETTY BLACKWELL

IMPORTANT DATE: *STARRY NIGHT STEM FUNDRAISER*
To be held on March 28th, 6 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. at the Ballantyne Country Club. The activities will includes an Italian Dinner, Silent Auction to include 30 gift baskets, Bourbon Tasting, Rare Bourbon Raffle, Starry Photo Booth and More!  So much fun!!!!!!




Key things to know:
                                         -  The Foundation will be rebranded as STEM for Kids.  STEM provides educational enrichment to the following three Title 1 Schools.  
Sterling Elementary- 70.1% Hispanic/ Latino enrollment
Renaissance West Steam Academy- 67.5% Black/African American
Nation Ford Elementary- 73.4% Hispanic /Latino enrollmentWith the help of the community partners STEM have sponsored 687 students for various STEM camps.

                                     -    The schools have seen positive educational gains from the support STEM have provided. Student interest and exposure to STEM has increased.  Grade level Proficiency for grades 3-5 saw an overall increase of 14% for end of year grade testing for 2021.

                                   -   Overall the past 18 years Sterling Math and Science Foundation/STEM for Kids has invested over $54,032.66 in resources for children.

                                          -  Those members who serve on the Board, as well as CWC members are hoping you can time out of your busy schedule to attend this event. If you are unable to attend, please consider making a cash or online donation.  Consider a purchase of a table or go to the CWC website to scan the QR code, next PUSH on donation, scroll down to see the specific CAMPS then make your donation to a camp of your choice.
