Carolina Women's Club
Special Edition Communication
April 2025
| | | | Hello CWC members!
We are excited to announce our fantastic Carolina Women's Club 2025-2026 Board Members, as well as a modification that will support the new Board and will enlarge the leadership group. The new Board includes several continuing Board members and several new Board members. In addition to the Board members, three of those positions will have co-chairs. Although co-chairs are not Board members, they constitute crucially important leadership roles that will aid the Board and all of CWC.
Unfortunately, at the time of our recent election of the 2025-2026 Board, no one had accepted the Executive Vice President nomination. Accordingly, the slate of proposed Board members and Officers, which was approved by the CWC Membership a few weeks ago, did not include an Executive Vice President. However, after the election Nancie Torrence agreed to accept the EVP role if nominated, so in accordance with provisions of the By-Laws for filling an empty Board seat between elections, the current Board nominated and approved Nancie as the EVP for 2025-2026.
From the Carolina Women's Club 2024-2025 Board to the incoming members . . .
A hearty congratulations to all new and returning Board Members, Officers and Co-Chairs!
It is our pleasure to introduce them below. |

CAROLINA WOMEN'S CLUB 2025-2026
Vice President - WEBSITE ADMINISTRATION: Sandy Wolchok
| | |
Sandy joined CWC a year and a half ago when she moved to town with her husband, Wayne. She very much wanted to meet people and join in activities, so feels fortunate to have been told about the Carolina Women’s Club. Sandy went to a new member event and met so many lovely women, including Becky Hart who talked to her about Philanthropy. And so began her journey with her favorite club. In June Sandy became the Philanthropy Coordinator and has volunteered many times with the various charities supported by CWC. Sandy's other favorite clubs are Afternoon Book Club, Home and Garden, and Bunco.
In January Sandy became co-chair of Afternoon Bunco along with Karen Bearss. In the coming months, she hopes to participate in some of the other clubs. Her professional background includes several years in sales, property management and higher education alumni relations and scholarship management. Spending so much time on the computer eventually led Sandy to discover the fun and creativity with technology. (trying to forget the frustrating moments!)
Along with husband, Sandy moved from Buffalo, NY to be closer to his children and away from the cold. They chose to build a home in a 55+ active community in Monroe where they have met many nice people, all from somewhere else. Being retired allows Sandy to take Pilates classes (which she loves), play pickleball (which she is TRYING to love), read (Sandy belongs to two book clubs), cook and play with her cats – Willy and Wally. Sandy also loves to travel and dine out.

CAROLINA WOMEN'S CLUB 2025-2026
Vice President - CLUBS: Catherine Lewis
Catherine has been a member of the Carolina Women’s Club since July 2023, 4 months after arriving in Charlotte from retirement in Buffalo, NY. In April 2024, she was appointed CWC VP of Clubs; the role fit right into Catherine's “wheelhouse” of managing programs, providing training and system evaluations as needed.
For Catherine, the goal is working effectively with and through others allowing growth and change to evolve. Today, as she monitors and manages 15 clubs, we see the benefits of having a full calendar of events from September 2024 through June 2025, the expansion of 3 evening clubs (Euchre, Bunco and Mah Jongg) and one new club (Mexican Train). With the exception of the Travel & Culture and Spur of the Moment Clubs, under Catherine's guidance, club chairs are now on “auto-pilot” having designated monthly meeting dates and times, taking CWC Clubs full force into the 2025-2026 program year. Catherine is grateful to all the club leads and participants.
Catherine's favorite activities are all the card games, Spur of the Moment, Mexican Train, Simply Social, and Culinary; her CWC Philanthropy time is spent each month at Promising Pages and Dress for Success.
Catherine spent her career as a healthcare professional in hospital administration, a medical practice administrator and running a 501©(3) health education agency focusing on general nutrition and Oral Health for children PreK-6th grades. Managing and working with and through others have been her passion throughout her life and career.
The CWC jewels of Friendship, Social, and Philanthropy have made Catherine's transition to the CWC Charlotte Community of women meaningful with a purpose. For Catherine, while a little overwhelming at times, the fun, fellowship, and "giving back" make it all worthwhile.

CAROLINA WOMEN'S CLUB 2025-2026
Vice President - PHILANTHROPY: Rebecca Hart
In 2021, Becky Hart and her husband moved to Charlotte, after 14 years in Columbus OH (Go Bucks!) and countless years in northern NJ, with stops everywhere from Los Angeles to Oxford England! Moving during COVID was not easy, so you can only imagine her relief when she opened a local magazine and saw an invitation to "make new friends" at the Carolina Women's Club. Becky immediately joined and has not looked back since.
Her focus with CWC is PHILANTROPY. Becky has always loved the poet Mary Oliver's question, "Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" At the end of the day, one of the things that Becky wants her life to be about is making a difference in this crazy world. Which is where her excitement about CWC Philanthropy comes in. Becky also enjoys many of the other great CWC activities - and believes she needs more hours in the day! When not doing "CWC things", Becky is usually found playing with her beautiful and funny granddaughter, Madeleine, who continues to take over Becky's home with a trail of brightly colored toys and half-eaten cookies. Becky looks forward to her second year as VP of PHILANTHROPY and continuing to meet many more CWC members.

Marcia retired from a long and very fun career in marketing and public relations. She has worked for large corporations, ad agencies and ran her own marketing business. Marcia always has been involved in the community so she loves CWC’s philanthropic efforts. She likes to take what has learned along the way and apply it to her role within our club. And at this stage, Marcia loves learning from and enjoying all the fabulous women met in our group!
Marcia loves travel, music, pilates and doing crafts. Marcia has probably been to more concerts and weddings than most people you know!
Born, raised and educated in the Washington, D.C. area, she became a happy Charlotte transplant thirty years ago, thanks to Bank of America. Her home is in SouthPark, but you can find her all over town, wherever CWC events are held!

CAROLINA WOMEN'S CLUB 2025-2026
Vice President - COMMUNICATIONS: Claudia Pirozzi | | | When the world took a long pause in 2020-2021, Claudia and her husband, Ken, were new arrived in Charlotte not knowing a soul. Fast forward to the sleepy and slow re-opening of "normalcy" and it is not far-fetched that Claudia was itching to make new friends and get involved in the community. Through a strike of great fortune, she found CWC in 2022 and the role of VP of Communications in 2024. Claudia welcomes the opportunity to continue giving of her time to the club by supporting the communication activities.
Claudia's professional life was spent in Pharmaceutical Drug Development with recent projects in Clinical Quality Assurance. While not fully retired, her thoughts are turning increasingly more toward community service, socializing and travel (which she absolutely LOVES). Having three adult children scattered from TN to FL certainly feeds into her wanderlust.
Claudia, Ken, Ecco (11-yr old aussie mix), Machie and Natie (two Akbash, puppy-brained, 15-month olds) all live happily (most of the time) in a fur filled Waxhaw home. |
CAROLINA WOMEN'S CLUB 2025-2026
FOUNDER: Debbie Peterson
| | |
Being a native Charlottean, Debbie has witnessed many changes in our city from being a sleepy, slow growing one to a very diverse city with a booming economy and a myriad of cultures. Debbie's husband, Martin, and Debbie have enjoyed traveling to many other countries, but there’s no place like home! They feel blessed to have three loving children and five precious grandchildren.
Debbie was locally educated and worked in administrative positions for firms such as Elf Atochem, Novartis and Sealand. Her college education was focused on interior design, which she enjoyed for 15 years.
It’s been a great pleasure of Debbie's to be one of the founders of CWC, a club that is diverse, philanthropic and offers something for all ladies. It totally rounds out Debbie's life.

CLUBS Co-Chair: Robin Meeks
Robin moved to Charlotte with her husband in 2021, not knowing anyone but their two children. At the suggestion of a CWC member, she joined the Club in 2023. Robin is currently a Home & Garden Co-Chair, and her new role will be as Co-chair with the VP of Clubs.
Robin’s first professional job after college was at Putnam Investments in Boston. The 1980’s were an exciting time to be in the investment industry, but she was drawn to a career in Human Resources; something that suited her personality and supportive work style. Robin spent the next 35 years in Human Resources, honing her skills in the financial, retail, and medical fields.
Throughout her career, Robin was motivated by the quote, “You’re never wrong to do the right thing” (Mark Twain). It takes integrity and courage to live by those words.
