Dear CWC Members,
As we settle into the summer months and many of our club activities take a seasonal pause, I wanted to share a few highlights of the work already underway on behalf of our members.
On June 19, the Executive Board held its first meeting of the 2026–2027 program year. I'm pleased to report that we accomplished a great deal during our inaugural meeting. We confirmed leadership appointments, established Board committees, and launched several governance, financial, and strategic initiatives that will strengthen our organization and support CWC's continued growth.
What impressed me most was the enthusiasm, collaboration, and commitment demonstrated by our Board members. I am honored to serve alongside such a talented, thoughtful, and forward-looking leadership team. Together, we share a common goal: ensuring that Carolina Women's Club continues to thrive for current and future members.
Board Appointments and Approvals
I am pleased to announce the following appointments approved by the Executive Board:
- Nadine DiNizo – Treasurer
- Tammy Campbell – Vice President of Philanthropy
- Nancy McLaughlin – Vice President of Membership
- Cathryn (Cate) Weir – Vice President of Web Administration
- Lorraine Harris – Assistant Vice President of Marketing Communications
Planning is also well underway for our September Kickoff Luncheon and 15th Anniversary Celebration. This milestone event will honor our rich history, recognize the vision of our founders, and celebrate the friendships, service, and accomplishments that have shaped Carolina Women's Club over the past fifteen years. I hope you'll join us as we celebrate this exciting milestone together.
I would also like to express our sincere appreciation to Crystal Egbuna and Sharon Cox for their dedicated service to CWC. While they have stepped down from their leadership roles for personal and professional reasons, their contributions to our Social Committee have helped create many memorable experiences for our members. We thank them for their commitment and wish them all the best.
As we begin this milestone year, I am grateful for the enthusiasm, generosity, and countless talents our members bring to Carolina Women's Club. Together, we will honor our past, celebrate our present, and continue building an even brighter future.
Thank you for your continued support, friendship, and commitment to Carolina Women's Club.
With appreciation,
Catherine

Building CWC’s Future Together.
| | The Carolina Women's Club continues to thrive because of one thing—our members. Your enthusiasm, friendships, volunteer spirit, and willingness to welcome others have created a vibrant organization that enriches lives and strengthens our community.
As we begin another exciting club year, we invite every member to become an ambassador for CWC. Think about the women in your life who would enjoy building new friendships, giving back through philanthropy, exploring shared interests, and participating in our many clubs and social events.
Growing Our Club Is Easy
- Invite a friend, neighbor, coworker, or family member to attend an event with you.
- Share why you joined—and what keeps you coming back.
- Encourage prospective members to visit our website and follow us on Facebook to learn more about our activities.
- Introduce guests to other members so they immediately feel welcome and included.
Every new member brings fresh ideas, unique talents, and new friendships that make the Carolina Women's Club even stronger. Together, we can continue building a welcoming, diverse, and engaged community where women connect, grow, serve, and have fun.
Thank you for helping us share the spirit of CWC. Your invitation may be the beginning of someone's next great friendship.

| | Hi Members,
This month has been an exciting one as we begin laying the foundation for Carolina Women's Club's 15th Anniversary Celebration and the club's future marketing efforts.
I had the pleasure of meeting with Jan Jimeson to learn more about the history of CWC, its founders, and the many milestones that have shaped the club over the past fifteen years. These conversations will help us share the stories and traditions that have made Carolina Women's Club such a special organization.
We're also pleased to report that we've begun working with South Charlotte Magazine, which has offered to feature an article celebrating CWC's 15th anniversary. This is a wonderful opportunity to highlight our club, increase awareness in the community, and introduce prospective members to everything CWC has to offer. Thanks to Nancy Smith for the gracious introduction.
Lorraine Harris and I also held our first planning session to discuss forming a member focus group. The goal is to better understand what members value most about CWC and to identify priorities for strengthening member engagement, communications, and marketing. The insights we gather will help guide our initial marketing plan and ensure our messaging reflects what matters most to our members.
If you're interested in participating in a focus group, look for date and registration details coming in early fall.
As we celebrate fifteen remarkable years, we're excited to help tell CWC's story, strengthen our connections with current members, and introduce even more women to the friendships, opportunities, and experiences that make Carolina Women's Club so special.

| | Hello, CWC Members!
Have you noticed how much our club has grown? From lively card and tile games to our engaging social events, our calendar is filled with opportunities to connect, laugh, learn, and support one another. None of this would be possible without our dedicated Chairs and Hosts, who generously volunteer their time to plan every event. To make sure these events stay fun, organized, and fair for everyone, we need to talk about a growing mystery happening behind the scenes…
The Case of the Vanishing Guest
Why RSVPing … and Showing Up … Matters
Picture this: You've carefully arranged tables of four for Bunco, only to discover one player is missing. Suddenly, you realize your substitute table mate is a stuffed teddy bear. While teddy bears are excellent listeners, they're terrible at rolling dice!
Behind every event is a Host who has spent time planning, preparing, shopping, organizing, and opening their home. When members don't attend (or cancel at the last minute without notifying the Host), it creates challenges for everyone.
Why It Matters
- Waitlisted members miss out. A reserved spot that goes unused could have gone to another member eager to attend.
- Planning becomes difficult. Hosts purchase food, supplies, and materials based on the number of RSVPs.
- Events cost more. Unexpected no-shows often mean wasted food, ingredients, and supplies.
- Popular activities are at risk. If attendance becomes too unpredictable, we may have to reduce the frequency of some of our favorite events.
How You Can Help
- Please treat your RSVP as a commitment to your fellow members and to the volunteers who make these activities possible.
- If your plans change (and we know life happens), please update your registration or notify your Chair or Host at least 48 hours in advance whenever possible. This allows waitlisted members the opportunity to participate and gives Hosts time to adjust their plans.
Thank you!

No-Shows
We understand that plans can change unexpectedly, and we truly appreciate everyone's enthusiasm in signing up for CWC events. However, late cancellations and no-shows can make it difficult for hosts to manage reservations, seating, and event logistics, and may result in unnecessary costs for the Club or the event host.
We kindly encourage members to register only when reasonably certain they can attend and to keep cancellation deadlines in mind. If circumstances change, please update your registration or notify the chair or event host at least 48 hours in advance whenever possible.
Your consideration helps us create smooth, enjoyable, and successful events for everyone. Thank you for supporting our hosts and fellow members.

Hosts Are Always Needed
Our Club thrives because of the energy, creativity, and involvement of our members. One of the best ways to contribute is by hosting an event.
Hosting doesn't have to be complicated. Whether it's a coffee gathering, lunch outing, game day, museum visit, or special interest activity, hosting is a wonderful way to connect with fellow members while helping keep our calendar active and engaging.
When you see a canceled event on the calendar, it is often because a host was not available. The more members who step forward to host, the more opportunities we can offer for friendship, fun, learning, and connection.
If you've ever considered hosting, we encourage you to give it a try. Your participation helps ensure a vibrant and welcoming experience for all members.
